This paper work comes from a series of preparatory works for the painting Evening Red II and was created in the same year. It treats and explores the color red with its expressive possibilities and refers to Romanticism, Impressionism, but also integrates elements of color field painting and Informal Art. As in the painting Evening Red II, the work does not depict a concrete object. The blur and the cloudy character of the representation, recall an intense, warm mood of a sunset. It could reproduce a detail, a section of the evening sky, at the end of a hot summer day.
Diese Papierarbeit entstammt einer Serie von Vorarbeiten für das Gemälde Abendrot II und ist im gleichen Jahr entstanden. Es behandelt und untersucht die Farbe Rot mit ihren Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten und bezieht sich auf die Romantik, den Impressionismus, integriert dabei aber auch Elemente der Farbfeldmalerei und der Informellen Kunst. Wie im Bild Abendrot II bildet die Arbeit keinen konkreten Gegenstand ab. Die Unschärfe und der wolkige Charakter der Darstellung, erinnern an eine intensive, warme Stimmung eines Sonnenuntergangs. Es könnte einen Ausschnitt wiedergeben, einen Ausschnitt des Abendhimmels, am Ende eines heißen Sommertages.
