The picture tells of the fascination of green. It depicts a landscape of memory. There are countless shades of green in nature. Here, the painter was preoccupied with dead and living textures and structures in green, especially the play of warm and cold variations of broken and partly dull green tones. Like a patina, these cover the entire painting as if it were cast in bronze.
Das Bild erzählt von der Faszination des Grüns. Dargestellt ist eine Landschaft der Erinnerung. Grüntöne gibt es ja als unzählige Abstufungen in der Natur. Hier beschäftigten den Maler abgestorbene und lebendige Texturen und Strukturen in grün, insbesondere das Spiel mit Warm- und Kaltvariationen gebrochener zum Teil stumpfer Grüntöne. Gleich einer Patina überziehen diese das gesamte Bild als wäre es in Bronze gegossen.
